Trust your instincts and let the grace of flow carry you forward.

Ahhhhhh, another beautiful sunrise starting with a giant purple heart shaped cloud reaching down to touch the ocean. The flock of gulls flew in hot and chatty, darting off and back in a flash.

Pelican Highway traffic was moderate heading in both directions, using the perfect waves to propel them down the shore with ease.

Gusts of wind blew the top of the waves sending white sparkles in the air. Surfers were coming from every direction to hang ten.

A sweet little elf left a message in the sand near my camera bringing us the message to be open to receiving love notes from out of the blue.

A spotted ray passed by bringing us the message of flow, grace and strength. The ray said, “I’m here to remind you to use all your sense to guide you forward. Trust your instincts and let the grace of flow carry you forward.

"You have all the strength you need to stay the course. Not to worry if you need time to hide away to feel safe, you will know when to start swimming again.”

Wishing you a day in the flow friends!

Fly outside your comfort zone

Mother Nature painted the sky with her pastel winter color palette. Gusts of wind blew the tops of the waves into the air filling the salty air.

When the sun came up surrounded by the pink glow it sent out heart expanding rays of golden light, bringing a very hopeful vibe.

The flock of gulls flew in at their usual time for some much needed self care. Herring gulls, laughing gulls and black backs and even Tiger the Heermann’s gull showed up.

Tiger is a celebrity here in New Smyrna Beach. He arrived from Baja for the winter 3 years ago! He has returned every year since. He brings the message of being courageous.

He said, “I highly recommend flying outside your comfort zone to see who you might meet and what adventures you might have. I’m the only the Heermann’s gull in this area, yet the flocks of various birds accept me, giving me the opportunity to meet new friends and form connections I wouldn’t normally have.”

See Life through the eyes of another

WOW!! Mother Nature not only used every crayon in the box, I think she made a few new colors for the color explosion this morning. She sure knows how to create a masterful painting.

The flock of gulls flew in with the magical color show as their backdrop. They were darting off and back in a flash. They said, ‘With a winter storm on the way they are feeling alert and ready to take action.

The refection on the sand contented to take my breath away as the color show morphed. The sun came up large and bright.

As soon as I stepped in the river Patches came flying in from the dock across the way. I haven’t seen her in a week, we were excited to see each other. She came up close so I could see the world reflecting in her eye. She said, “It’s nice to connect by seeing life through the eyes of another. It can give you a perspective you wouldn’t normally see.”

A mom and young dolphin were enjoying playtime and snuggles. Momma grabbed a redfish while the youngin’ played with a mangrove propagule. They make for fun sticks to practice fish tossing skills. The youngin’ said, ‘Go ahead, enjoy mastering your skills, practicing can be super fun, especially if you relax and play as your learn.”

Signs illuminate the path

We are having another overcast and drizzly kind of morning with a cozy layer of clouds giving us a cozy vibe to start the day.

The first photo is from this morning, the other images are from other days to give us a little sunshine to start the day. Being flexible brings us the message of improvising to make our heart happy.

The dolphins add to the message encouraging us to enjoy the support of our pod. "Go ahead, lean in and enjoy the playful fun of each other."

I included one of my favorite shots of the moon with the lights from the dock lighting the way. They lights show us the path is illuminated, we just have to look for the signs for directions.

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Shine your light for all to see

Mother Nature brought us a dramatic fifty shades of grey start to the day. With rain all around the morning the air was humid accompanied by a light breeze.

The flock of gulls flew in at their usual time to say hello. They were extra cute bumping up against my legs and zooming close to the camera. It was so nice to be reunited! They said, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.”

With the layer of clouds, the morning stayed dark and cozy making the lighthouse seem brighter than usual. The lighthouse brings us the message of strength, hope and safety. It encourages us to shine our light for everyone to see.

A couple dolphin came in to grab breakfast. They said, “We appreciate the nutritious food that keeps us strong so we can continue to spread joy.”

Hi Everyone!

If you are just meeting me for the first time, I'm Penny the Pelican. I know you love Pip but I met her first! That's when I became head of Hooman relations. If you know Shelley she likes to talk to in full sentences to us wildlife so I've learned a lot over the years.

I'm here to let you know she has flown the coop again, this time she's headed to hang with her flock.

I still don't understand how she can fly without wings especially when she said she needs to rest them. Hoomans, so confusing.

Anywho, she will be back at sunrise Tuesday morning. She said, "Penny, make sure you let them know how much I appreciate each and every one of them!"

Stay tuned!

Let go, be open to new directions

My favorite day of the month when the sun rises while the full moon sets was full of powerful energy and loads of wildlife.

The pre sunrise sky filled with a pink glow surrounded the bright moon high in the sky next to a retrograding planet mars. Retrograding means the planet appears to be going backwards, when this happens the energy asks us to inward and reflect.

Full moons bring the culmination of energy as the moon cycle comes to an end. With Mars near by, the moon asks us to get ready for the new moon by reflecting on what no longer serves us. It’s time to let go!

A flock of skimmers came flying in from the north on Pelican Highway. They turned to come enjoy time with the huge flock of gulls already on the beach. Skimmers are great acrobats, able to change direction on a dime. They said, “Be open to changing direction. It may be a temporary change or more, trust in your instincts to know which way to go.”

After sunrise dolphin grabbing snacks said, “When the energy of the full moon feels intense we find playing makes us feel better. Play and laughter eases the stress on the mind and body.“

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Confidence is the new sexy

With a layer of fog and wall of clouds on the horizon the morning started off with a subtle color. When the sun came up, the warmth filled the sky immediately along with a golden glow.

The flock of gulls flew in before sunrise and stayed to enjoy the morning together. Floppy, a laughing gull who has stolen my heart brings us the message today.

She got her name from her wings hanging down and to the side. Even though she is different than the other birds she walks with confidence.

She said, “No matter your size or shape, own it! Go ahead, strut your stuff. Show off your unique self with confidence. Confidence is the new sexy.”

Wishing you a sexy kind of day!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Male Bonding

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Male Bonding

A little after sunrise, a large pod of dolphin came in to the lagoon to hang out. They were in a very playful mood, enjoying lotos of splashing, hugging and grabbing an occasional fish.

Uncle Larry and Jagger were in the mix. There may have been females…. But you will have to trust me that most of them were males. It was like watching a group of best friends wrestle and laugh for an hour. I hope you can feel the enjoyment from the pictures.

Danika, a dolphin who loves to hydroplane came in to relax and grab snacks too. Although I'm not sure of the gender yet, so could be Daniko. More from her, Uncle Larry and Jagger.

And…Today when I saw Pip the pelican, the color of his head changed a little in just one day! What I've learned is Atlantic which includes Florida brown pelicans with yellow heads are called breeding adults. White heads are non breeding adults.

Stay tuned for the big news!

Life is a series of waves, Embrace the ride

Ahhhhhhh, with a light breeze and calm ocean the morning was peaceful and restorative. The sun came up like a huge ball on the horizon bringing warmth and lovely golden orange colors.

The waves were amazing today beckoning to everyone to come play. The flock of gulls hoped in the get squeaky clean which is a good thing because they were a bit stinky today.

The waves bring us the message today with the assistance of a laughing gull and a very skilled kayak surfer.

They said, “Life is a series of waves with moments of calm in between. The waves remind us to embrace the energy and experience. Not to worry you will reach the top of the wave while keeping your eyes on the horizon. From the top of the wave you will feel a sense of accomplishment that helps you take on the next one.”

2 pelicans holding wings on their flight down the shoreline bring us the message of connection. They said, “Connection comes in many forms. Reach out and share the journey, it’s fun to fly together. “

Transparency leads to closeness

First light started with a deep pink with just the channel marker and sprint boat lights visible on the horizon. The waves were messy but trying to organize as the sun came up to greet the day.

The flock of gulls flew in at their usual time to enjoy our morning bath time. A solo cormorant cruised down the breach on Pelican Highway. Pelican Highway traffic was light flying mostly northbound.

A great egret flew overhead in a way that the light showed his beauty. He said, “Be transparent. It makes like easier to navigate and creates the opportunity to be vulnerable. I know it may seem scary but it leads to a closeness that will make your heart soar.”

Open to incoming messages

Whoa! It seems lots of snow birds have arrived to sunny Florida. Birds were up and down the beach as far as the eye could see. When they took off in a flash the energy was exhilarating. They bring the message of flocking together to take flight.

The clouds on the horizon teed up the sun like a giant golf ball. Swirly light clouds around the sun soaked up the colors bringing us a sweet yet powerful vibe.

3 egrets danced in the waves grabbing breakfast. They said, “We highly recommend embracing the waves. You see the waves carry life and vitality, oh it’s fun!

A red shouldered hawk flew by and landed on a building when I was walking off the beach. She said, “Be open to incoming messages from your intuition. As you let go of limiting beliefs you can see more and soar even higher. You’ll feel like me, sitting high above the world seeing the big picture clearly.”

Keep wings open and invite closeness

With no breeze and warm temperatures, a layer of fog enveloped the beach giving us a cozy feeling to start the day. The flock of gulls flew in hot and chatty for our usual bath time.

2 laughing gulls said, We bring the message of staying open to like minded birds to join your flock. The secret is to keep your wings and heart open as an invitation to closeness.”

I ran into Pip, Patches a couple of pelicans and a mom and baby dolphin came in to enjoy snacks and quality time together after sunrise.

They bring the message of connection and community. Pip said, “The dolphins, pelicans and Shelley are my flock. We live together bringing each other a sense of belonging. I get grumpy with everyone at times but that doesn’t change my love and gratitude for my flock.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Sunrise Baby Love Fest - TGIF!

After sunrise several moms and their kiddos came into the lagoon for a love fest.  Charley and Uncle Larry, the male dolphins joined in the party.  The maternity pod energy is always sweet and playful. Like watching kids and their parents at the park playing on the swing set.

The kiddos were playing together  while the adults enjoyed relaxing on their backs, along with a few kisses and hugs.

The adults were tossing mangrove propagules ( they look like sticks) with the kiddos.  The kiddos were chasing their moms around when they were not rolling around with the other littles.

Seeing life through the eyes of a child

The morning started off with fifty shades of grey and loads of clouds. Eventually a little pretty in pink joined the grey. When the sun came up behind the clouds the golden light streamed through the clouds changing the vibe to one of ease and hope.

The reflection on the wet sand added to the beauty of the sunrise masterpiece. The flock of gulls flew in for bath time and seemed happy the wind was a bit less.

After sunrise I enjoyed a love fest with the several momma dolphins and their kiddos along with a flock of pelicans including Pip and Patches. Stay tuned for the full story in a Tales from the Lagoon Episode coming soon.

The babies were having so much fun chasing their moms and popping up to say hello. They bring the message of seeing life through the eyes of child.

Accepting life’s boo boo’s

Weeeeeeeeeeee, the wind was whipping while the ocean churned. The very chatty flock of gulls flew in when it was still dark. We all hunkered down close to the ground to keep from blowing away.

I was surprised to see 4 wildlife characters with different stages of boo boo’s bringing us a message of resilience, patience and flocking together to recover.

A herring gull and a laughing gull were both wearing bands from their hospital stay. A pelican with a fishing lure on his wing and a momma dolphin with a torn dorsal fin all showed up for sunrise.

A couple birds called skimmers flew in to rest with the other birds. They are beautiful birds who skim the water for food, scooping up the fish with their lower beak. I especially love that they sound like a barking dog when they talk. I asked them for their advice about all the boo boo’s.

They said, “If you are living life you are most likely going to get banged up a bit. Our secret is to hang with our flock, like the momma dolphin with her mom friends in a pod."

"Being surrounded by the flock give us safety to rest and recover. And we like the companionship. We don’t always know each other well, but we know we are stronger together. Accepting life’s boo boo’s as part of the journey gives our life texture and makes the healing process a bit easier.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Nesting and falling deeper in love with you

Mother Nature brought us a serene and sweet morning with a pink, gold and orange colors. The reflection on the wet sand and water was artful, using the gift of textures and dancing light.

One Legger and her flock flew in to enjoy the sunrise and bath time.

A few reflective gulls said, “We encourage seeing your reflection with love, it will help you fall deeper in love.”

As the sun came up, with a hint of a green flash, it gave the ocean a soft kiss as it left for the day.

A channel marker that seemed to appear in a new location after the hurricane brings us a message of being open to seeing our guideposts in new places. The channel marker encourages us to look for guidance to our path in new places. Just the smallest shift in perspective can bring new awareness.”

Big Blue, the blue heron was hanging out for a while before leaving with nesting material. He said, “Take time to nest in the place you rest your head. Adding a little fluff or comfort item makes for a happy home.”

There was an after sunrise party in the lagoon with lots of friends, stay tuned!

The flock of gulls flew in for bath time int he shallow water as the sun came up bringing us warmth.

4 gulls broke into a high speed chase over breakfast bringing us a message of staying the course.

Tales from the Lagoon~ Episode- Pip and Patches Update

Hi Everyone, it's me Pip and my friend Patches. I'm not a fan of the cold and wind so I've been hunkered down on my pole for the last couple days.

Shelley says I look different than when I was younger. I guess as I grow up and become a 'mature' brown pelican, my feathers change colors. I'm not sure what becoming mature means but it makes me tired.

Patches has been right there too. Her patches are fading into an all white head. I wonder if I'll look like her or if my head will be yellow. She has sweet eyes with pink around the outside that makes her look extra pretty.

Stay tuned for more tales!

Stick the landing after dragging feet

The pre sunrise sky filled with a massive grey cloud reflecting on the wet sand. The calm ocean and light breeze added to the serenity of the morning. The sun stayed hidden behind the clouds giving us a cozy vibe.

A very loud flock of gulls flew in for some much needed bath time and connection. Skimmers and royal terns were among the laughing gulls. All the birds were huddled together to keep warm and enjoy some much needed rest.

An egret flew in to bring us the message for today. He was dragging his feet before sticking his landing. He said, “It’s ok to drag your feet until you are ready to land. Not to worry about dragging those toes, the timing will work out.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!
