Playful interactions lift all involved.

The morning started with a sweet pretty in pink glow accompanied by a refreshing breeze.  A very chatty flock flew in when it was still dark.  Pixar, a laughing gull was extra fun flying up close.

Although the sun stayed mostly hidden, the moon was bright in the sky still feeling powerful.  As it was setting over the river a pod of dolphins came in to play and grab breakfast.

A young dolphin popped up waving her fin saying, “Expect unexpected connections. Be open to playful interactions, they have the ability  to brighten the day of everyone involved.”

As I was photographing the dolphins, a turtle glided by with ease.  She added, “Take it easy.  Relax into the current and enjoy a gentle ride today.”

Ride the flow

With a cool breeze the morning felt like fall is nearing.  The huge full moon was bright in the sky as my feet hit the sand bringing an instant calm.  The chatty flock of gulls, sand pipers, ruddy turnstones and royal terns were all ready for bath and self care time.

Gorgeous waves rolled toward shore soaking up the light as the sun came up to greet the day.  Surfers were sprinkled all over the ocean waiting on the perfect ride.

A kayak surfer heading out brings us the message of knowing we are safe even thought a huge wave may be heading right for us.

Pelican Highway glided along the perfect waves saying, “You’ll feel it when the flow is carrying you. Relax and enjoy the ride.  If you are in a lull, not to worry more energy waves are on the way.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode-Playful Male Dolphin- Swims by 2 times!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode-Playful Male Dolphin - Swims by 2 times!

I was already in the lagoon when 2 male dolphin best friends swam in, Whisper and Ocean.

Ocean came over said hello then went to get a fish. As he swam to get a fish I was telling him how nice it was to see him and what a handsome boy he is. I talked to him for a few minutes before he returned, and zipped by. I thought after he swam by he was heading over toward Whisper but he circled back and came out of the water just a few feet away. Apparently he likes being called handsome...or mullet or both.

Stay tuned for more tales!

Let Go, surrender

Beautiful pink rays of light surrounded the setting moon and lit up the horizon just before sunrise. The chatty flock flew in early loud and proud ready to connect.

The powerful, partial lunar eclipse is underway. The moon brings us the message today. “I am full of energy so you may feel like you are hooked up to an electric outlet today. Like all full moons I am asking you to let go of what no longer serves you.”

”I’m situated in the sky bringing an extra nudge to let go of control and lean more into the flow of life.  I admit, my energy is quite intense so I highly recommend grounding into nature, take time to unplug and rest.”

Lean into your uniqueness

Mother Nature brought us an other worldly looking kind of sunrise using a mix of swirly and fluffy clouds along with every crayon in the box!

Huge, powerful emerald and white waves rolled toward shore calling to the pro surfers to come play.

A very large and chatty flock of gulls flew in early. The 2 One Legger’s were in the flock today. They are such great athletes. We are waiting to see if Peg, Hook and Tiger will return too. Fingers are crossed.

The gulls seem to be the most chatty this week. One Legger flew in hot, slamming on her brake and said, “Focus on your strengths. Sure we can all find something we wish was different, instead I highly recommend leaning into your uniqueness.”

We are stronger together

With a layer of clouds hovering like a cozy blanket, it was really dark as I walked to the beach.  I wasn’t sure we would have a sunrise, but Mother Nature said, “Patience Shelley, don’t rush a good thing.”

The golden sun came up from behind the wispy layer of  fog and clouds bringing us a mystical kind of sunrise. Huge waves rolled toward shore sending out the call to surfers to come play. The waves were powerful creating almost a white ocean from the breaking waves.

A very large and chatty flock of gulls flew in early ready for bath time and connection. Photographing the gulls has given me a window into their world. They each have a unique personality, full of curiosity and a deep instinct for survival.

Today as the lifted up as a said, “We need each other for survival. Sure we biker and squawk at each other but we know we are stronger together.”

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode -Fishy Fly & Healing Time for a Male Dolphin

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode -Fishy Fly & Healing Time for a Male Dolphin

The weather cleared enough to have a couple hours in the lagoon. Fish were flying!  Making the coolest sound when they hop across the water as one.

Jagger, a male dolphin came in with a younger dolphin who I call Artistio.  Artistio got his name from the great art he creates with his tail splash.

Jagger is usually with Uncle Larry but he didn’t come in today. Jagger looks like he may have tangled with a shark from the cuts and wound to his rostrum.  Dolphins are good healers so hopefully he will heal up soon.

He seemed in good spirits, enjoying a lot of relaxing time and closeness with the camera mixed with a few fish chases. Dolphins are good healers so hopefully he will heal up soon.

Stay tuned for more tales!

Stretch to stay openhearted

Mother Nature brought us a hazy almost black and white pre sunrise. Once the sun came up from behind the clouds, a pinking gold color show filled the landscape. A soft breeze joined in the sunrise giving a soothing start to the day.

The flock of laughing gulls flew in early when it was still dark for an early bath time. One of the gulls said, “Stretch to stay open hearted. Join me, take a deep breath and let your wings drop so your heart can be seen.”

Pelican Highway traffic was heavy gliding mostly northbound over the big and beautiful waves feminine us to use the flow to carry us.

Head first into the waves

Whoop Whoop!  The sun is back for sunrise and what a beautiful golden glow it painted. The chatty gulls were already at the shore when I arrived.

While we waited for the sun, soft fluffy clouds soaked up the lavender and pink pre sunrise colors. Surfers came from every boardwalk to ride the big waves.

The gulls were extra chatty this morning.  One of them ran into the waves for bath time.  She said, “Sure the waves can seem daunting, but I recommend going straight in, let them wash over you. Like surfing, flow with the energy and see where the wave wants to take you.”

pulling old feathers can feel sticky

The morning started out hot and steamy, dark and cozy. I doubted the sunlight would make it thought the line of storm clouds but it did!  The rain crept closer bringing a nice breeze and beautiful reflections.

The wildfire didn’t seem to mind the overcast skies.  So many birds came for breakfast, breathing life energy onto the morning.

A royal tern with an ankle bracelet brings us the message today.  She said, “Pulling out the old feathers can be a bit sticky at times.  What I know for sure  is, even if they are challenging to let go, it’s important to pull out the old and make room for the new.”

Feel your way….easy does it…trust the timing

Mother Nature brought us a sultry sunrise with a huge layer of fluffy clouds keeping the morning dark and cozy.  Eventually the sun came bringing us a hint of gold before it was absorbed by the clouds.

Overcast skies didn’t keep the flock from flying in for bath time.  We enjoyed extended time in the water getting squeaky clean and chasing fish.

A snail on a sidewalk brings us the message today. He said, “I feel my way with my antennas.  They are my super power letting me know when to retreat into my shell or if it’s safe to move along.  I’m also the messenger of patience. Easy does it, trust in the timing. It’s all going to work out.”

Showing off your hidden parts

With fluffy clouds soaking up the colors and hiding the sun, the morning was dark and cozy feeling almost fall. Waves churned toward shore soaking up the orange glow once the sun made it above the clouds.

The large and chatty flock flew in early for an extended bath time. They chased tiny fish in the shallows squawking loudly.

After sunrise I met a mockingbird who was belting out a ballad.  When she stopped a nearby woodpecker started singing too.  If she hadn’t joined in, I might not have seen her.

She said, “Normally I am very driven, knocking and digging for snacks.  Today I am taking time to care for myself.  Checking under the wings for old feathers.  You know the hard to reach places where bugs can hide.  A little self care and I am ready to show off how beautiful I am, even in the hidden parts.”

Let the flow carry you

Yipppeeeeee! The sun was visible at sunrise bringing us a beautiful golden start to the day.

30 minutes before sunrise the flock was already int he water chasing fish and squawking like a loud alarm clock. The sky filled with soft cotton ball clouds ready to soak up the color show soon to arrive.

Slowly, the pastel colors emerged giving us a blue, pink and gold pre sunrise glow. As the sun came up, traffic on pelican Highway started jamming. They shared the sparkly highway with surfers coming from every nook and cranny to catch a wave.

Pelican Highway brings us the message of finding the sweet spot of flow. They said, “We enjoy gliding above the waves letting the energy carry us. You see, when we are in the flow with a wave, we relax our wings and enjoy being carried with ease.”

Trust the timing, support each other

Mother Nature brought us a sweet and soothing sunrise. The kind of sunrise that is so calm it helps calm the nervous system system.  Beams of light jetted out from behind the cloud hiding the sun.

The chatty flock flew in when it was still dark, staying for an extended bath time until the sun was up.  As they lifted up together with their wings and hearts one they said, “We are here to remind you to support each other in staying open.”

Golden waves rolled toward shore with the message of timing and momentum.  “As we roll toward shore soaking up the sunlight we gain strength.  When the timing is just right, we crest and merge with the ocean again.  Trust the timing, everything is lining up, even if you can’t feel it yet.”

Wishing you a beuatiful day friends!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- Is it Luna the Osprey?

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- Is it Luna the Osprey?

I met an osprey in 2018 who returns to New Smyrna Beach every winter. She usually stays for about 4 months spending her time on 2 boats. It wasn't until last year when she became more engaging and enjoyed photoshoots.

She looks a little different this year so I'm not 100% it's her, but she is hanging in her usual spots. As you can see, like most ospreys, she is very expressive. She had a hurt left foot last year, she still uses it gingerly but it is looking better.

What I have learned is female osprey have brown feathers around their neck and chest. I was told even the smallest amount of brown means it's a girl. Males have an all white chest and neck. Wondering if this is a Luna impersonator...

Tales from the Lagoon ~Episode - Family Day

Tales from the Lagoon ~Episode - Family Day

A sweet maternity pod with a tiny calf came in and out of the lagoon all day while 2 males stayed, relaxing with the occasional zoomies. They were catching mullet in the shallows and as you can make beautiful art with the splash.

What I love about a maternity pod is the team effort. Momma has a pit crew to help raise the nugget. The baby came up close with his/her mouth open, then followed with a teeny tail slap. So darling!

Ocean and Whisper, the 2 males were extra friendly, enjoying a lot of connection with each other and the camera. Loads of video today, so stayed tuned for more tales!
