Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Girls Like to Fly!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Girls Like to Fly!

Yesterday while hanging with Momma and River, another mom and her calf and a few others popped in for bit. Within minutes I could feel they were about to fly.

In a flash 3 dolphins flew out of the water at the same time...I missed that one, then they popped out again before moving along. The man in the sailboat was cheering too!

Fun fact, the dolphin in the air is a female. Female dolphins have a division sign on their belly- one long slit with 2 smaller slits in each side. Males have an exclamation point on their belly - one long slit with a smaller slit under the long one.

Stay tuned for more tales!

Set your fear aside and go for it!

Holy light rays Batman! The sun was slow to rise this morning with a cloud layer in front of its path. On the way up, jetting sunbeams reached out onto the sky filling the air with warmth and hope of a new day.

The flock flew in wings snd hearts open ready for bath time. Thankfully the water was warmer than the air. After bath time we hunkered down huddled together for warmth.

On my walk off the beach a bald eagle soared above bringing us the message today. She said, “I am a reminder that you are stronger than you know. I bring the message of unshakable courage. If you have ever watched me, you know I am determined, putting any fear aside so I can soar high.”

You got this! Have a beautiful day friends!

Tales from the Lagoon ~Episode - Baby River is Growing Up!

Tales from the Lagoon ~Episode - Baby River is Growing Up!

I met Momma in 2018 with her first baby who I named Indy after the Indian River Lagoon. Momma was the first female dolphin to Human Whisper me. She would lay just a few feet away and point her rostrum at me for long periods of time. It felt like we were having long chats.

January 2022 Momma came in with another baby who I named River. In December 2022 River let us know she was a girl and loves to play!

Yesterday Momma and a youngin’ who I believe is River came into the lagoon for snacks and relaxation. River is bigger and still loves to play! River kept swimming circles around the camera, showing off her fish with pride.

Check out the baby photos of River from January 2022 and December 2022.

After hanging out a while with just Momma and River, a few moms and their kiddos came in and they had an impromptu party with a few jumps in the white caps! A fun party for sure!

Stay tuned for more tales!

Balance

Thanks to cool temperatures, the air was crisp with an orange glow filling the sky at first light.  The chatty flock  was already at the edge of the shore when I arrived.

Wind blew the tops of the waves as they rolled toward shore sending salty spray into the air.  Hook and Pixar flew, a couple of laughing gulls flew in close to say hello showing how beautiful they are, especially when their feathers soak up the light.

On the way off the beach, a very chatty squirrel was serious about chatting this morning.  He said, “I’m here to remind you to have balance.  It’s good to be resourceful but careful not to hold on too tight.  Don’t hoard your nuts, not to worry there are plenty for you and everyone else.”

Wishing you plentiful day friends!

Be gentle with yourself, everything is unfolding in ways you can’t imagine

The sunrise had all the elements of winter with wind, chilly temperatures and a churning ocean. The chatty flock flew in early to say good morning. The original Peg, a laughing gull flew over to say she was back and pose for a photo.

The sun came up behind a cloud looking like a pair of eyes peering through. Once it was up, the warmth felt wonderful.

On the the way off the beach I ran into a morning dove enjoying the sun. She said, "I’m here to encourage you to keep hope alive. If you’re feeling discouraged, be gentle with yourself. Trust the process, not to worry, everything is unfolding in ways you can’t yet imagine."

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Flounder Fest and Flying Fun!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Flounder and Flying Fun!

This is a 2 episode post with a flounder fest from Thanksgiving and a flying party today. On Thanksgiving, Ocean and Whisper, 2 males dolphins came in for the sushi buffet.

Ocean scored the largest flounder I’ve ever seen!  The flounder fest lasted about 10 minutes. Ocean tossed the fish up several times showing off his both sides of the fish. He is one strong dolphin getting the whopper in the air so high!

Today when I arrived at the lagoon, the party was already happening. It was very windy, the Indian River had white caps and swells.  I saw about 6 dolphins in the pod surfing the swells, then as a boat passed by, they started to fly!  And fly they did, all the way across the river, popping out 2 at a time.  They sure know how to play!

Cliff, Momma, her baby Ocean and Whisper came in later to enjoy some playful shenanigans, so stay tuned for more tales!

Sweet connections can improve your mood

Good morning! The sunrise felt wintry with a churning ocean sending salty spray in the air. A sweet pink color show filled the pre sunrise sky until the sun came up adding a golden glow to the scenery.

A very chatty flock flew in led by Pixar the laughing gull ready to connect.

Pixar who had a sweet look on her face said, “Go ahead, take a moment to slow down and bond with a like minded flock mate. Sweet connections can increase endorphins and improve your mood!”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Sweet Connections

Mother Nature used every crayon in the box today! The morning started off with a vibrant orange glow above the ocean. Lavender clouds floated in the sky like Nature's version of the Macy’s Day Parade.

As the sun approached the horizon, a pink glow took over, then morphed into an intense golden hue for the few minutes the sun was visible.

Hook, a laughing gull, is back! This is her fourth or fifth winter in New Smyrna Beach. She came right over to say hello and share the message of connection. She said, “I always look forward to joining the Florida flock in the winter. We look to one another for safety as a flock while enjoying sweet connections.”

Wishing you a day filled with sweet connections!

We have had such a beautiful week of sunrises with a calm ocean, nice temperatures and loads of wildlife.

This morning the almost new moon was high in the sky over the ocean illuminated by first light.  This new moon is situated in the sky giving us an infusion to our passion.  The man in the moon said, “My energy might even have you feeling excited!  Go ahead to turn your intentions toward your heart’s desires and let the magic unfold over the next 6 months.”

Pelican Highway traffic was heavy on both directions, some flying high, others riding the waves for support.

Ospreys lined up like airplanes at an airport, diving for fish.  One missed her catch, came up, gave herself a good shake and went again.  She said, “Never give up.  Sure you might feel tired, but I’m here to remind you that eventually you will get that goal. Stay the course and enjoy the diving.”

THANK YOU for all the support and love this year, I’m truly grateful. I have a dolphin friend who will make a proper post of gratitude in a bit.

Wishing you a beautiful day!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- Jagger, A Male Dolphin Playfully swims around photographer

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- Jagger, A Male Dolphin Saying Hello

Jagger spent 3 hours hanging out today. This is a 30 second video of his interaction with the camera. He playfully swims around me in a circle just a few feet away you can see he has remora on attached to his side.

Although, I named him Jagger, I call him Nugs, short for nugget.

More from his recovery from a shark bite in the next post.

Stay tuned!

Once you grab your goal, take it the distance

Ahhhhhh, a serene sunrise with clear blue sky welcoming the sun to greet another day.

The sun came up in a unique shape or just an optical illusion.

The chatty flock flew in to usher in the sunrise with open hearts. Pixar danced on the sun as it was rising. After sunrise, the flock was getting squeaky clean in the tide pool when they noticed fish swimming in their bath area.

They started Squawking with glee!  I’m pretty sure they were saying “Mine, mine, mine.” The birds involved in the high speed chase bring the message of staying focused with your goal.  Once you have it, take it the distance.  You got this, stay confident.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Use all your resources

Mother Nature brought us another serene sunrise that felt more like a spring day than winter. The ocean was calm except for perfect surfing waves which the dolphins enjoyed. The sun came surrounded by the flock bringing warmth

A dolphin couple was grabbing fish and surfing the waves bringing us the message of ease today.

They said, “We use tail slapping for a few reasons, one is to send a shockwave to the fish making it easier to capture them. We encourage using all your resources to grab your goal.”

As they swam down the beach in the wave they added, “No need to work hard when you can ride a wave’s momentum and let it carry you with ease. If you don't feel the momentum, wait for it, it always comes."

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Snuggly sunrise

From the minute my feet hit the sand I could see dolphin enjoying a calm ocean before sunrise.

The flock greeted first light with open wings and hearts at the same time Pelican Highway was soaring above the ocean looking for breakfast.

So many dolphins!  They were everywhere.  A few pods came close to shore to snuggle in the waves while others were far off chasing fish.  Baby sharks swam in the shallows also looking for breakfast.  A large shark leaped out of the water far off near where the dolphins were feeding.

The dolphins bring us the message of play and snuggles.  They said, “Taking time to play is great way to increase your endorphins.  We recommend finding a few minutes each day to break into spontaneous play to keep your heart happy.”

Dive in!

The sunrise was exceptionally beautiful this morning with abundant life.  I was greeted by the flock before the giant sun came up to greet the day.

While hanging with the flock, dolphins swam by just past the waves while a huge pelican party started diving for breakfast around the sun.

The pelicans remind us to dive in.  They said, ‘Go ahead, line yourself up with your heart’s desire and dive in.  It’s ok if you don’t get the outcome you want, diving in is the fun part. Enjoy the journey.”

Piper, an adorable sandpiper was showing off her personality while getting squeaky clean.

Good Morning!

I'm going stay and play in the waves and river after sunrise, so the post will be a little late today. In the meantime, please enjoy relaxing with the flock. Half way through the video they get the zoomies.

Bumps and bruises are part of the journey

The sunrise was for the birds!  With crisp temperatures the flock was feeling frisky and engaging.

While we waited for the sun to come up, Split Foot wanted to share the message of the day.  She said, I have a split foot and tiny holes in my feathers.  These are signs I’m alive. Despite my bumps and bruises, I keep my wings and heart open, knowing this all part of the journey.”

When the sun came up, the steamy heat could be seen rising from the ocean.  The sun looked as if it was lingering, not quite ready to leave for the day.

Wishing you a day with your wings and heart open ready to embrace what the day brings.
