Deliberate action
Ahhhh, with a glassy ocean, light breeze and a layer of salty fog, the morning was extra serene. The quiet was palpable and helped my body relax into the moment. The sun came up over the calm ocean surrounded by a few clouds before filling the sky with a golden glow.
A chatty flock of gulls, ruddy turnstones and egrets flew in for breakfast and bath time. The egrets stealthily walked the beach looking for snacks and bringing us the message today.
They said, “We highly recommend being conscious about each step. You see, being present in the moment and deliberate about our actions helps us score breakfast.”
A laughing gull standing next to one of the egrets swallowing a fish was begging for him to share. Egrets are not known for their generosity, so we know how that turned out.

Tales from the Lagoon ~Episode - Spring Love Is Here
Love is in the air and water. This year I have seen more manatees than the past couple years combined. So glad to see they are doing well again after a few years of struggling.
The dolphins have been very snuggly and the manatees seem to be ready to mingle.
One day the manatees were hugging to my right and dolphins were hugging to he left!
The ducks are getting in on the love theme too. A duck couple under the dock was enjoying a little snuggle fest as well! Gotta love spring time in the lagoon!

It’s the time of year when the pelicans show off their athletic abilities. They are relentless, following, hovering, and chasing the fish and dolphin for hours. The first pelican is playing peek a boo with a mullet in his gullet.
The dolphin are really skilled at zig zagging to fake out the pelicans.
Sometimes the dolphin will toss a fish to the pelicans or for fun toss a mullet into a floc of pelicans and watch the insanity unfold as they fight for the fish. It is definitely an elite sport!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode -1 Mom, 3 kiddos 2019-2024
Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode -1 Mom, 3 kiddos 2019-2024
I met Momma Jade in 2019, I remember it like it was yesterday because I said, "Hey momma, can I meet your baby?" A couple minutes later they swam over on my left. The baby who I call Ruby, popped up, landed on her mom and they swam by!
Then in 2022 when she showed up with another youngin' I said, "Hey Momma Jade, can I meet your baby?" A couple minutes later, Jade lifted baby Opal out of the water on her back, presenting her beautiful calf.
This year Jade has another little one with her who I named Topaz. Topaz has the same sweet and playful energy as his/her siblings. This week I said, "Jade! Show me the baby belly!"
Little Topaz popped up with a little back flip and landed on momma showing the belly. I wanted to se the belly so we would know if this one is a boy or girl. I couldn't see the lower belly to know, but I'll ask again and see what happens.
I had no idea in 2018 when I snapped my first dolphin photo that I would be invited into their world and not just meet their kiddos, but get to watch them grow up! Truly an honor.
