Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- Simple Pleasures

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- Simple Pleasures

Today was such a fun day in the lagoon. So many different dolphins came in to say hello and they were in a relaxed playful mood. Today was a day of enjoying the simple pleasures.

A few babies were popping out of the water and the adults grabbed a few fish in a speedy way but for the most part they were laying around and snuggling. But the majority of the day was spent connecting and playing with leaves, mangrove propagule seeds (which look like sticks) and sticks.

This adult dolphin was playing with a lead for 5 minutes and oozing joy. I couldn’t stop giggling, it was so fun to watch the joyful interaction.

More to come, so stay tuned!

PS ~Sunday sunrise is the previous post. Sorry for the delay.

Play and laughter can shift your mood

Mother Nature started the year off with a foggy sunrise that felt extra cozy with a blanket of clouds on the horizon. The clouds soaked up the wide variety of colors. The flock of gulls flew in at their usual time for bath time and a lot of chatting.

Pelican Highway flew in front of the sun heading southbound while skimmers and willets passed by going northbound.

The haze eventually burned off reminding us the light will burn through the fog so we can have clarity.

After sunrise, several pod of dolphins came in the play and relax. The morning started with Daniko, he was loving hanging out close when he wasn’t grabbing breakfast. He came in and out several times throughout the day. When he leaned back he said, “Relaxing is a great way to start the year. Get your batteries charged and ready.”

Several moms stopped in with their kiddos who were really feeling playful. One baby played with a mangrove propagule for 15 minutes. He was having such a good time, I swear I could hear him giggling. He said, “Us dolphins know how to play. You see, laughing and play can shift your mood and make you feel better. “

Wishing you a playful day friends!

Trying to be one with the flock. :)

Get close and show off your boo boo’s

Mother Nature brought us a quiet and serene sunrise. With low tide the beauty was doubled with a heart expansive reflection.

Fog rolled in just before the sunrise adding to the cozy tranquility. The absence of noise except for birds chirping and waves rolling in was incredibly grounding and peaceful. The sun came up enveloped in the fog keeping the light low and sweet.

3 seagulls were enjoying hanging out in the quiet bring us a message of review. They said, “We recommend taking a few minutes to go within and see you and your year in reflection. As you review your year, we encourage compassion and love for yourself.

Hook, One Legger and Split Foot were extra engaging. They said, “We are here to remind you to be authentic. Go ahead, it’s safe to get close and show off your boo boo’s. Join us in celebrating all of who we are.” The seagull photos were taken with my wide angle lens.

And if that wasn’t enough, I saw Pip the Pelican on the highway for the first time! I was SO excited to see him all grown up, flying on the highway. What a wonderful way to close out the year, celebrating his success.

Wishing you a year filled with so much love friends!

Embrace your inner dog with unconditional love

It was such a gorgeous morning I stayed to hang out soaking up the majestic beauty. The flock of gulls flew in at their usual time to share the beautiful start to the day.

As the sun came up it looked like an angel or phoenix rising formed between the clouds. Sun beams jetted out into the sky filling the air with a powerful and moving vibe.

Pelican Highway was jamming, sharing the road with skimmers and oyster catchers. A few pelicans took the exit for the rest stop to enjoy hanging out in the tide pool. They said, “We bring the message of knowing when to take a time out and rest. Rest is an important part of our healthy immune system.”

After sunrise I saw my favorite commercial fisherman and his pack of pups. His pups are incredibly sweet and excellent boat dogs.

They said, “We bring the message of unconditional love and loyalty. We encourage you to be gentle and kind with yourself and others. If you are feeling blue, we find cuddling with your pack makes everything feel better.”

Wishing you a wonderful day friends!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Amazing Sunset Dolphin Party!   PART ONE

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Amazing Sunset Dolphin Party!   PART ONE

The party started when Momma and her youngin’ River along with Momma Split Fin and her kiddo.  My new 9 year old friend from New Zealand named the split fin mom Echo and her kiddo Flippers, which turned out to be the perfect name!  He loves to flip!

As soon as they were close the kiddos were leaping out of the water and rolling around with their moms.  After a bit or hugging, the moms went to relax in the shallow water while the kiddos played more, flying and splashing, having the best time.

As the kiddos jumped out of the water, people all around could be heart saying OOOOH..… AHHHHHHH. What fun it was!

A while later a few male dolphins, Charley and M joined the fun. When the commercial fishermen arrived, tossing nets near by a feeding frenzy began!

Stay tuned for More from the sunset party!

Stay the course, hone your skills

Ahhhhhh, Mother Nature brought us a reflective sunrise with warmer temperatures and lovely clouds on the horizon. She used her pastel color palette again today adding in a little lavender to the pink and bluesy theme.

The flock of gulls were very spontaneous, darting off and back several times. They bring the message of being spontaneous, be open to taking action when you feel inspired.

After sunrise I was so relieved to see Patches the pelican. I haven’t seen her since the freeze. She and Eddy were flying together like a perfect ballet couple. They were diving for breakfast bringing us a message.

They said, “We dive a lot for fish, but don’t always catch one. We bring the message of going after your goal with a flock mate. We want to remind you, sometimes you have to dive several times before grabbing your fish.”

“We are here to remind you to stay the course, even when you are frustrated. We think of the attempt as practice, we are honing our skills and the bonus is the splashes make beautiful art.”

Wishing you a beautkulf day friends!

PS~. If anyone knows the family honoring their beloved on the beach this morning at sunrise…I took a photo I’d like to gift them, but don’t know how to reach them. Thank you!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Sunset Party with Snook and Mullet.

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Sunset Party with Snook and Mullet.

These photos re from the epic holiday party at sunset a few nights ago. Several pod of dolphin came in the lagoon for love, play and good food. It’s the time of year when the mullet are abundant but the cold added snook to the menu this year.

The cold weather is hard on a a lot of wildlife including snook. A fisherman told me the snook can’t handle the cold water so they are huddled in huge numbers under the dock where the dolphin come in.

When the dolphin were not flying out of the water or hugging they were grabbing snacks with pure joy. It’s as if they were celebrating the fish and giving thanks for the feast.

Stay tuned for more tales!

Compassion can go a long way

Yipppeeeeeeee! The sun was back, large and bringing warmth. The temperatures are warming up but the wind is still chilly from the north and blowing the tops of the waves.

The flock of gulls flew in wings and hearts open celebrating the big ball of light. They said, “We recommend keeping your wings open to soak up the warmth.” One Legger was hanging out letting us know she is ok.

Pelican Highway exited the highway, flying straight for the sun as it was coming up.

After sunrise I ran into a little lizard who was slightly frozen. I gave Lil lizzie my hand warmer and she hugged like a pillow. Truly a heart melting moment.

Lizzie said, “I bring the message of compassion for yourself and each other. Just a little compassion can go a long way.”

She went on to say, “Generally speaking lizards remind us to be honest with ourselves. Look for areas we may be deceiving ourselves. You see, honesty is a way to free your heart, which feels amazing!"

Wishing you a day filled with compassionate connections!

Break out of routines

Mother Nature brought us another bluesy sunrise with cool temperatures and a brisk breeze.

The flock of gulls flew in at their usual time to hang out. A pelican who wasn’t feeling very well joined in the flock to keep warm.

I missed photographing the sunrise to check on the pelican. He said he didn’t want help at this time, that he just needed to thaw out.

He brings us the message of being flexible, it’s good to break out of our routines to see what unfolds. He said, “Let go of how you think should be and follow the flow.”

In honor of the flow I’m posting 2 sunrise photos from last year this day and a joyful dolphin series at sunset from this week who bring the message of spontaneous play!

Wishing you a joyful day friends!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Best Holiday Party Ever!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Best Holiday Party Ever!

Yesterday I spent the day with several dolphins.  The day started with Momma who has a split dorsal fin and her kiddo.  They were alone for quite a while before the other moms and their calves came in followed by another pod of dolphin.

At one point there was around 12 dolphin grabbing snacks, hugging and rolling around.  It wasn’t until late afternoon that the real fun started.  It started with you a younger dolphin popping out of the water with the assist of an adult.

Well, that must have inspired something because they all started flying out of the water and I swear they were laughing and giggling, having so much fun.

Then they started chasing fish.  I’m sorry to tell my fisher friends that snook was on the menu.  They grabbed 4 snook in about 20 minutes which inspired more play and celebration.

Stay tuned for more tales,  more to share form the party!

Flock together to thrive and survive

Mother Nature used her moody blues and pretty in pink color palette this morning. With wind, moisture and cool temperatures, it was a bit chilly.

The flock of gulls were already waiting when I reached the water’s edge. They were huddled together for warmth. A flock of skimmers in tight formation flew by on their way to breakfast.

Tiger the Heermann’s gull from Baja was in the flock of laughing gulls along with a few herring gulls, a few ruddy turnstones and sand pipers. They bring us the message this morning of community.

They said, “We are all a little different but we find when we flock together we have something in common, survival. We know we are stronger together. Together, we can stay warm and safe. When we fly as a group, we help to carry each other while making our work load feel lighter.”

A shout out to my internet company who was at the gate before sunrise to thaw and restore the frozen internet! THANK YOU!

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Stay tuned for photos from an epic wildlife holiday party!

Tales from the Lagoon ~Episode- A Happy Reunion

Tales from the Lagoon ~Episode- A Happy Reunion

Hi Everyone! It’s me Pip the Pelican! I surprised my Hooman friend Shelley by coming to say hello for the first time in 15 days! This was the longest we have been apart since March 23, 2022.

If you are just tuning in, I tried to eat a filleted sheepshead fish in march. I was young and inexperienced back then, oh and really hungry. The Hooman’s picked me up and removed the pokey fish very carefully because sheepshead fish are like porcupines. The nice hoomans didn’t want to tear my pouch.

I couldn’t eat or fly on my own. Lucky me, the bird hospital was closed and they told Shelley to feed me. Best day ever when those finger mullet came flying at me. It took about 10 days to be able to fly, so she spent lots of time with me to make sure I was safe. That’s when I met Spot the egret. The three of us sat together a lot. It took me about 4 months to get strong and now 9 months later, I’m doing great!

I have a bird posse of other mature pelicans who I brought to meet my Hooman friend yesterday. I was so proud to show her my friends and how good I am at catching fish. There was a time I wasn’t so good at grabbing those slippery little suckers.

I have passed my rehab pole onto Eddy the immature brown pelican. Eddy tore his foot pretty bad and it hurts so he sits on my pole resting with Shelley.

Shelley said she is sad that the bird hostel is closed indefinitely. She was told to keep an eye on Eddy and if necessary she can take him to St Augustine for rehab like she did with me. That place was really nice but when they set me free I flew home to my pole. I wanted to be home. New Smyrna Beach is where my heart is which makes it my home.

Stay tuned for more tales!

Keep the focus and you will soar

Baby it’s cold outside! For sunny Florida it was a chilly sunrise with 20mph gusts blowing the tops of the waves. This cold weather wimp dressed like a combination of Elmer Fudd and the Michelin Man and I waddled to the sunrise like a penguin.

The sunrise was definitely a winter scene. The white sparkly spray blowing off the waves into the air looked like Florida snow.

Despite the chilly temperatures, a small flock of gulls flew in to say good morning. We all skipped bath time today opting to stay dry in hopes of staying warm.

The sun came up highlighting the steam coming off the ocean. The combination of the wind blown waves and steam bring us the message of blowing off any inner steam.

The sky was bright and blue after sunrise. The pelicans were hunkered down keeping warm. If I could ask for positive thoughts for the wildlife and people who don’t have shelter from the bitter cold and wind. Florida rarely gets temperatures this cold and frostbite is a reality in the next few days.

A hawk was hanging out on the top of a sailboat looking for breakfast. She brings us the message today. She said, “I’m here to remind you to survey your life as you prepare to take swift action when the time is right. Keep the focus and know your vision will help you fly higher than before.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Embrace your shadow side

Ahhhh, a sweet and salty sunrise! The sun came up from behind a wall of clouds looking a bit like an eagle or phoenix rising.

I’ve been sharing messages from Mother Nature since 2017 and I still get exciting when the messengers show up in a magical synchronicity. Today the sun shadow and baby shark teamed up to bring us a powerful message.

The sunrise shadow says,”We all have a shadow side. The shadow side is the part of us we might reject because we believe it is unacceptable. The sun says, “It’s time to light it up! Let the light shine bright on all your parts. Use the energy of the new moon to start fresh with accepting and loving all of you.”

A baby shark was swimming in the waves at the same time the shadow was on the horizon. The shark said, “Embrace your perceived flaws, release the negative judgment of yourself and let the love the light pour in. You see us sharks are very sensitive, we know we must use our instincts to move forward. The more you love yourself, the clearer your instincts will be.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Magical Art in Everyday life

As I reached the beach, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. Fog and grey clouds enveloped the entire area. Perfect surfing waves rolled toward shore tossing up white foam in the air and the on the beach.

After a few minutes I see the flock pierce through the mist and make their way toward me. One Legger, Hook, Split foot and about 500 other birds stopped to say hello.

Although the grey and white sunrise was beautiful, I decided to share a few sunset dolphin photos from this week last year.

The dolphins bring the message of creating beauty in your every day activities. Go ahead dance, sing and play through the day!

Dolphins are wonderful artists, using the light to show the magic of breath. Danika, the dolphin who loves to hydroplane, was making golden geometric shapes as she swam by at mach speed. Meanwhile a few moms and their kiddos were enjoying playtime. Their splashes catches the sunset lighting was gorgeous.

Wishing you a magical day friends!

Inhale and exhale with Purpose

The sunrise was gray and white with a light pink once the sun came up from behind the wall of clouds. The photo of the gulls is from today, the rest are from other days.

The message today comes from the winter solstice, a hawk and dolphin. The winter solstice happening in the United States is the shortest and least amount of sunlight for the year. This day ushers us into winter, a time to go within.

The energy of the solstice is like the hawk, asking us to look at ourselves from a higher perspective so we can set the intention for any changes going forward. This is a prime opportunity to soul search while opening to raising our vibe with more love and compassion for ourselves and each other

The dolphin said, “Soul searching can be deep and feel bumpy, we highly recommend using deep breathing to aid in the process. Inhale and exhale with purpose. Look at my exhale, isn’t it beautiful. The breath brings renewed energy to our cells, assisting in raising the vibe.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

set intentions for your heart’s desires

The morning started off with a dark and sultry moody blues. Eventually a little pink crept through then lit up the clouds bringing a hopeful vibe. The water was warm, calling to the seagulls for bath time.

The almost new moon was floating in and out of the clouds as I walked to the beach. Generally you can feel the energy of a new moon 3 days before and 3 days after. A new moon bring us fresh energy and new beginnings with different themes.

This new moon brings the energy to assist us in getting organized and planning for the future. The new moon says, “Imagine your life is blank slate and you can create anything your heart desires. Use my energy to set your intentions and plant seeds. Then let go of the outcome, exhale, relax and enjoy the day.”

A big blue heron was enjoying stillness while he looked for breakfast. He chimed in saying, “Stillness and quiet are great for allowing inspiration to flow to and through you. Moments of quiet can open doors for hidden thoughts to surface.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Slow down on the inside

Chilly temperatures and wind brought sunny Florida a brisk sunrise. With layers of clouds on the horizon I knew the sunrise would be dramatic and gorgeous. Mother Nature didn’t disappoint, it was a heart opening, beaming sunlight extravaganza!

The flock of gulls including Tiger the Herman’s gull, several sand pipers, laughing gulls and herring gulls flew in for bath time. I was glad the water is still warmer than the air.

Piper and her friends came strutting down the beach looking like supermodels on the runway. Piper and another laughing gull bring us the message today.

Piper said, “My secret is to move fast but stay in the moment. I know that sounds confusing, you see, I slow down on the inside so even though I am scurrying around, I am savoring each moment.”

The laughing gull said, I Agree. Especially during bath time when I’m getting the pesky bugs off, I like to stand up tall, spread my wings out, open my heart and freeze the moment. Feels so good to stretch with my heart open.”

Embracing the wonder of a child

The wind was whipping while the ocean churned. A blanket of fluffy clouds gave the morning a cozy feeling despite the biting wind. The flock of gulls flew in at their usual time bringing us a message.

They said, “We recommend facing the wind with your wings and hearts open. You see, the wind beneath are wings makes it possible for us to be in the moment with ease. Embrace support in all the ways it manifests in your daily life.”

A pink ray of light jetted into the sky before the sun came up to greet the day. When the sun came up, it filled the sky with a deep golden red color. The wind blowing the salt spray into the air looked like Florida’s version of snow.

After sunrise I spent time with Eddy the Immature brown pelican. He said, “I’m here to remind you to enjoy exploring. Us young pelicans are like toddlers, we learn through touch and exploration. A few minutes a day feeling the wonder all around can bring you joy."

Wishing you a playful day friends!
